Third Conference for Society for the History of Linguistics in the Pacific
5th & 6th July 2012
University of Adelaide
(Roth 1897: Plate VIII)
(C. Strehlow 1907: vol 5: 75)
South Australia has been a centre for the study of the history of linguistics in Australia, with important contributions from missionaries and from researchers at both the university and at the South Australian Museum. It is fitting then that the third conference of the SHLP is to be held in the Department of Linguistics at The University of Adelaide.
SHLP 2012 will take place immediately prior to the AHA Conference, which also has as its venue The University of Adelaide. It is our hope that this timing will facilitate a stronger interaction between linguists and historians. Contributions from historians attending the AHA Conference are particularly welcome, as are those from other disciplinary perspectives which bear on the history of linguistics in the region.
Previous conferences of the society were held in the Australian National University (2008) and the University of Western Australia (2010).
Please send abstracts of no more than 300 words to:

Thanks from Clara and Bill to everyone for their contributions, and we look forward to seeing you in Adelaide in a couple of months.
