Exile Project |
|
Dear NISN members,
After a successful EFACIS conference in Aarhus where we were happy to see several of you it is time to look forward. Hopefully even more of you will be able to participate in our own second conference, hosted by Ruben Moi in Bergen. But before we meet there I would like you to remember that we are still on course regarding our NISN-project on the theme of exile. I had the opportunity to speak to some of you at Aarhus but it is appropriate to put in writing, to make sure the information reaches all of you. As you might have gathered I have taken over from Barbro Norbelie as co-ordinator of the project, so from now on, please, direct all correspondence regarding the project to me. In order to get the project flying I ask all of you who are still interested in participating in the project to produce an introduction to your intended contribution. It should be a couple of pages long and outline which approach you are taking and what material you will be using in your work. It is important for me to get an overview of what the whole project will be like, as I want to be able to write a presentation that can be used when approaching publishers. I want you to send me your introduction no later than 31 March, to give me time to prepare an outline of the project ready for presentation at our conference in Bergen. Please send your proposals to me electronically at: mariearndt@hotmail.com I hope that those of you who have already expressed an interest in contributing are still eager to follow this through, and that members who have not yet expressed an interest will not be deterred from joining our project at this stage. I think it is very important that we produce this volume and get it published internationally as it would help to raise the profile of Irish Studies in our part of the world. It is also vital that we produce something in writing that we can refer to in the future, for example, when we apply for funding for different activities. I am already thinking of possible publishers to approach, so we all have to help to deliver the goods that will make it happen. Looking forward to hearing from you. Marie Arndt |
