Irish Studies Symposium at Aarhus University

The symposium is held on occasion of the official opening of the Centre for Irish Studies Aarhus (CISA) on 6 October 2000. The opening is planned to take place in Hornungstuen at Studenternes Hus, Ndr. Ringgade.

Programme:

9.00 - 10.00 Registration
10.00 - 11.00Opening speeches and book donation.
11.00 - 12.00Professor Anne Fogarty of University College Dublin lectures on "The Politics of Identity in Contemporary Irish Women's Writing".
12.00 - 13.00Lunch.
13.00 - 16.00 Seminar: "From 'British Isles' to 'Atlantic Archepelago': Regional, National and Constitutional Perspectives of the Belfast Agreement".
Papers presented by:
  • Brendan O'Leary, professor, London School of Economics.
  • Nils Lindvig, political editor, Danmarks Radio.
  • Mads Qvortrup, Assistant Professor,Institut for Statskundskab, AU.
  • Sara Dybris, cand.mag. and freelance journalist.

The symposium is organised by CISA in collaboration with European Cultural Studies and the Department of Political Science and will be held at Anatomisk Auditorium Bldg. 232, auditorium 115.

CISA will be the first centre for Irish Studies in the Nordic countries, so this is an important event for Irish Studies in Europe and the Nordic countries in particular.
