RSS feed
We offer a so-called RSS feed with a list of the most recently added events to the Graduate School calendar and links to the full description. By subscribing to the feed you can easily keep track of any new events in the calendar, because the feed will automatically check for new events on a regular basis and list them.
It is not quite clear what the abbreviation RSS stands for. Some say it is "Rich Site Summary", others say "Really Simple Syndication", and yet others say "RDF Site Summary".
Be that as it may, RSS feeds are a way of syndicating information, that is sharing it with others in a standardised way. Most new browsers have built-in support for handling RSS feeds, but you can also download stand-alone applications to handle your feeds (click here for a list of popular RSS readers).
You can access the Graduate School feed within any RSS supporting browser by clicking the orange RSS icon found below the navigation menu on every page
.
Below is an alternative way of integrating RSS feeds into the curently two most widely used browsers, viz. Internet Explorer and Firefox under Windows (screenshots and button/link labels are from the Danish versions of these browsers; they will be very similar in other languages):
Internet Explorer
NOTE: Only Internet Explorer version 7 and above have built-in support for RSS feeds. If you are using an earlier version, you cannot subscribe to the feed using your browser. Click here to download the latest version.
- Go to the Graduate School's website http://www.hum.au.dk/forskerskoler/sfn/ or to one of the calendar subpages ("Project meetings", "Courses" or "Other events")
- You will notice that the "Feeds" button lights up in orange, and you may hear a sound as well:

- Press the "Feeds" button to open a new page. This page shows you the content of the Graduate School RSS feed.
- The feed shows a list of the 10 most recently added entries to the calendar and a short description of each. You can go to the full desription of the event in the calendar by clicking the title or the grey arrow next to the date (the date shows you when the link was last checked, not when the event takes place!).
- Click on "Abonner på dette feed" towards the top of the page to subscribe to the feed
and select a location to place the feed shortcut (similar to when you save a bookmark).
- To access the feed, you must go into Internet Explorer's "Favorites center". You access the Favorites center by clicking the yellow star just below the Back and Forward buttons:
- Now click on "SFN arrangementer", and you will see the same list as in 4) above.
Firefox
- Go to the Graduate School's website http://www.hum.au.dk/forskerskoler/sfn/ or to one of the calendar subpages ("Project meetings", "Courses" or "Other events")

- Press the icon to open a new page. This page shows you the content of the Graduate School RSS feed.
- The feed shows a list of the 10 most recently added entries to the calendar and a short description of each. You can go to the full desription of the event in the calendar by clicking the title .
- Click on the "Abonner nu" button towards the top of the page to subscribe to the feed:
and select a location to place the feed shortcut (similar to when you save a bookmark).
- If you choose to subscribe to the feed using Firefox' built-in "Live bookmarks" feature, the shortcut to the feed will become a special, dynamic bookmark that will automatically list the contents of the feed when clicked. In this screenshot a Live bookmark has been placed on the Bookmarks bar:

- From the list you can click on to the detailed description of the event in the calendar.
